Some of you may know that I've been helping out with an event thrown by Delta Gamma Atlanta Alumni. Below is the press release going out tomorrow on it, so hope you'll all tell your single friends about it so we can raise some great money for a great cause. Also, if you want to be auctioned off or know someone who might want to be, please let me know! We're getting great gift certificates donated to be used on the dates as well :)

A Night Out to Raise Money for a Great Cause
Annual Bachelor/Bachelorette Auction helps raise money for the visually impaired.
ATLANTA, September 8, 2008 – This marks the third year that a group of bachelors and bachelorettes gather to mix and mingle, have a good time, and help fund a philanthropic mission that dates back to 1936. This year’s Delta Gamma Bachelor/Bachelorette Auction will be held Thursday October 9, 2008 at East Andrews Upstairs from 7:00 – 10:00 PM. The auction proceeds benefit the Delta Gamma Foundation, which works to raise money at a local community level as well as nationally. The money raised will help benefit those who are visually impaired and a portion of the proceeds will be donated to the Center for the Visually Impaired and Foundation Fighting Blindness right here in Atlanta.
Event coordinator, Kristen Healey said, “Our auction is a great way for singles to mix and mingle while supporting a great cause. It’s fun, lively and even silly! East Andrews offers an excellent venue for our auction and we are excited to get the bidding started. We are striving to exceed last year’s proceeds of $4,000.” The previous two auctions helped to raise over $8,000.
This year’s event is going to be bigger and better than ever. Tickets can be purchased at the door on the night of the event for $20. Several local restaurants and venues have already gotten on board to support the event by donating gift certificates and tickets, which winning bidders will receive. These include generous contributions from Agatha’s: A Taste of Mystery, Agave, Fritti and Dantanna’s restaurants, The Fernbank Museum of Natural History, The Flying Biscuit Café, Metrotainment Cafés, and Whole World Improv Theatre.
Delta Gamma was founded in 1863 in Oxford, MS. Delta Gamma Foundation provides resources for educational growth and philanthropic service for all members. Grants to schools and organizations that share and further our mission have totaled more than $2.7 million since the Foundation’s incorporation in 1951. In the past twenty years 1.4 million hours have been logged for Service for Sight.
